LONG AGO AND FAR AWAY...
Because isn't that how all great stories begin? Directed by Mother Nature on the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau, the story of the Tibetan Yak is a saga written around the old adage that "what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger". In this harsh environment thousands of meters above sea level, food and oxygen are scarce and winters are unforgiving. This is where Yak have adapted to not just survive but thrive. These remarkable animals were the life blood to ancient Qiang people and to this day provide food, fuel, shelter and transportation to the nomadic peoples of their homeland. Their journey which began at 'the Roof of the World' has taken hundreds of years and covered thousands of miles, but the Yak have finally reached their destination here, at Black Yak Cattle Co. in Beautiful British Columbia. Welcome to the farm, we hope you'll enjoy having us for dinner.
MeatOver 95% lean protein, Yak contains more CLA, omega-3, and oleic acid than beef without the saturated fats, cholesterol or triglycerides. Naturally juicy, deliciously flavourful, our meat comes from animals that are 100% grass fed, grass finished, hormone and antibiotic free.

House and Hound Unique as your own style, all our Yak products are original works of art. In partnership with local artists and taxidermists we have created decorative skulls, wall mount hides and blankets that are functional as they are decorative.
|
Fibre and WoolWarmer than merino, more breathable than cashmere, Yak fibre is naturally odourless, hypoallergenic and soft. Harvested when the animals shed in the spring, each Yak produces only a few hundred grams of down making this a rare and luxury product.
